Prairie View, TX – Representatives from Land O’Lakes gave a presentation to several College of Agriculture and Human Sciences classes about the company’s Manufacturing Management Track (MMT), a six-month training program that will result in a guaranteed leadership position for participants within their various plants across the country. Once the training is completed, applicants will be eligible for Plant Manager positions within their animal feed division.
The MMT training takes place in feeding plants for Purina Mills, which Land O’Lakes owns. MMT trainees will assist in leading the overall activities in the feed plant to ensure quality products and services. They will train in regulatory compliance programs, maintenance, human resources, and administrative services.
Each year about six to eight applicants get hired through the program. The ideal candidates are people with an agricultural background, manufacturing experience, previous leadership roles, and work experience. They also give people with a military background priority in the application process.
There will be no out-of-pocket costs for those accepted into the MMT; the company will provide lodging in their training location. They will also help with moving costs when applicants find a permanent position.
While it is possible to become a Plant Manager without the MMT program, it takes years of work experience within Land O’Lakes to get there. But with the completed training, participants jump to the top of the qualified candidate pile of applicants and will likely get the position over someone without the training. There are also internships and other job opportunities within the company if the MMT program is not the right fit. For more information, visit careers.landolakes.com.
