September 8 – Prairie View A&M University’s Cooperative Extension agents in Travis County have been hard at work distributing personal protective equipment (PPE) to local daycare providers. CEP 4-H Agent Nathan Tucker worked with other Travis County staff on July 29th to help prepare boxes of gloves, masks, and other supplies for a giveaway event on July 31st. Even though they faced the most significant storm of the month on the giveaway day, a line of providers showed up in their vehicles to pick up supplies outside the extension office. There were enough supplies left over to hold another giveaway event on August 10th. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it to help give something back to the county’s essential workers.

Cameron County also provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to local daycare providers. CEP 4-H Agent Guadalupe Castro volunteered to assist with distribution. The county extension staff set up a table in their demonstration garden as the distribution site. Daycare providers were informed that July 13th –July 17th were designated pick-up days. Cameron County staff, including CEP 4-H Agent Guadalupe Castro, greeted daycare providers as they came to pick up the PPE. A second distribution took place on August 3rd –August 5th to accommodate additional daycare providers.
