January 14 – At the close of the Fall 2018 semester, the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences held a Plan of Work Retreat on December 18th and 19th, 2018. The event’s goal was to discuss and develop a report that will outline the college’s future and present its findings to the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

The Plan of Work Retreat was a two-day workshop which brought together all departments under the CAHS umbrella including Cooperative Extension Program, CAHS (academics), the Bill and Vara Daniel Farm, and Cooperative Agricultural Research Center. More than 50 faculty and staff in attendance engaged in meaningful and impactful collaborative work to plan for the upcoming POW Report due to NIFA in April 2019. CAHS Director of the Agro Innovation Technology Center, Ashwani Srivastava, , coordinated and led the event to create an all-inclusive method of discussing the “The purpose of this retreat is to make sure our staff is aware of all of the new changes NIFA is bringing.” With these changes, CAHS staff must now identify their critical issues and develop solutions that fits within NIFA’s nine emphasis areas.

The process enabled CAHS to better assess its areas that need improvement in a cohesive environment. Moving forward, Srivastava hopes this workshop lays the foundation for continuing an open dialogue, ideas, and conversation amongst the entire College of Agriculture and Human Sciences system

This work is supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, 1890 Extension Formula Formula Program projects under Section 1444.
