Emerging issues in Groundwater Resources by Ali FaresGiven the importance of water security globally, a book series dedicated to Advances in Water Security has been started by Dr. Ali Fares, Associate Director of Research and Professor of Watershed Hydrology. Published by Springer, the series has been established as an advanced forum for hydrologists, technologists, policy makers, planners and other users to discuss the latest innovations and applications of new techniques and policies in dealing with water security.

The first book in this series, Emerging Issues in Groundwater Resources, is now available. This book examines how emerging groundwater risks under current and potential climate change conditions reduce available groundwater resources for domestic use, as well as for agriculture and energy production. The book’s topics are grouped into five sections: (i) Sea Level Rise, Climate Change, and Food Security, (ii) Emerging Contaminants, (iii) Technologies and Decision Support Systems, (iv) Surface Water-Groundwater Interactions, and (v) Economics, and Energy Production and Development.

Unique because it uses a holistic approach to investigating risk, this book contributes to a better understanding of the emerging risks to groundwater resources. It is of interest to a wide audience in academia, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and environmental entities, helping responsible stakeholders to make informed decisions about water resources. Four CAHS researchers and faculty members contributed to different chapters in the book.
