Kecia Smith is the guest speaker at the upcoming meeting of the PVAMU Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).  She will be speaking on the topic: Navigating a White Collar Profession based on Teresa Hammond’s book, A White-Collar Profession: African American Certified Public Accountants since 1921. Her discussion will specifically discuss the challenges and strategies for navigating through the accounting profession successfully and she will share some historical facts about African Americans in the profession.

Smith is an accomplished PhD candidate in  accounting at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University.  Prior to her doctoral studies, she was a senior manager at Deloitte and  a Director at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a private-sector, nonprofit corporation created by the Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002.

Please make plans to attend to hear her very compelling story coupled with remarkable insights.  The NABA meeting is scheduled Monday, February 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the new Ag/Business building in room 119.
