Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The College of Business at PVAMU offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in profit or not-for-profit enterprises.  The program integrates various business disciplines to provide the high-quality educational experience needed to assume a leadership role as a manager or entrepreneur.

  • The MBA (online and evening programs) is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
  • The program is flexible.  Students may choose the evening MBA program, with courses offered at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center in Houston, or take advantage of the online MBA and earn their MBA completely online.
  • With the needs of students in mind, the program is affordable.  The online MBA has been consistently ranked as an affordable option among AACSB-accredited programs for more than 5 years.  Review tuition and fees for additional information, and use the online resource Paying for Graduate School on the Office of Graduate Studies site.

Students enrolled in the MBA program must complete 36 graduate credit hours of coursework, including nine (9) required courses (listed below) and three (3) elective courses.

Students choose three (3) elective courses from an approved inventory of business courses.  Depending on the combination of courses, a student has the option of completing one of four (4) concentrations or pursuing a general management option.

Students without a background or undergraduate work in business may be required to take some additional courses before enrolling in graduate-level courses.  Coursework and equivalencies taken at previous institutions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis upon submission of application materials.  Please contact the program director at mba@pvamu.edu for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

For students who want more schedule flexibility, deeper knowledge of specific topics, or more time in foundation courses, the College of Business offers a fully online MBA and an ime MBA at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center. Classes are offered online, in-class and in a hybrid format.  Students take core courses, with opportunities to take electives to broaden their knowledge in specialized areas.

The Executive MBA program is a fast-paced, highly structured program with Saturday hybrid courses. Twelve foundational courses are designed to empower students with professional competencies to be applied immediately in their own business environment.

Students from all backgrounds are welcome: liberal arts, education, engineering, healthcare and so on.  While a bachelor’s degree is required for admission, a bachelor’s degree in business is not required. There is no GMAT or GRE requirement for admission to this program. Some international students may need to take the TOEFL, but the GMAT, GRE or thesis is not required for admission to the MBA or MSA programs.

Classes for all graduate programs are offered in the fall, spring and summer, with breaks between semesters. In the fall and spring semesters, most students take two classes each semester.  Students in the MS in Accounting program should expect to take core accounting courses in the summer.  Most students can complete the program within two years.

Classes are held online or at the Prairie View A&M University Northwest Houston Campus located near FM 1960 and Highway 249. The address is 9449 Grant Road, Houston, TX 77070.

At Prairie View A&M, we understand students are juggling multiple commitments, both in their professional careers and at home.  Our MBA program gives students the ability to complete the program within a time frame they feel comfortable with, as well as the flexibility to take courses in a format that works best for them whether online or at our campus in Houston.
