When saving for an emergency, should every investor have an all cash strategy?  Research published by PVAMU business finance instructor Janine Scott suggests otherwise.  Dr. Scott’s article,“Is an All Cash Emergency Fund Strategy Appropriate for All Investors? published with co-authors in the Journal of Financial Planning and cited in the February 12th edition of The Wall Street Journal blog outlines several strategies that investors should employ when evaluating their options.

Dr. Scott holds a PhD in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University.  She began her tenure at Prairie View A&M University as instructor of finance in fall 2013.  She has already piqued the interest of students both inside and outside the classroom, having recently returned from the TD Ameritrade conference in Orlando with PVAMU finance majors Lawrence Hooks and Tamyrha Brown.

Dr. Scott is one of several business faculty teaching personal financial planning.  Prairie View A&M University’s College of Business currently offers courses in personal finance for individuals interested in shoring up their own finances as well as a minor in financial planning for those interested in personal financial planning as a profession.
