Employees must be approved by their department head or supervisor to drive a university-owned vehicle. Before requesting Authorization to drive a university vehicle, employees or student workers must complete 2111481: Driver and Travel Safety Training – RMS.

GOLF CARTS, UTILITY CARTS

Utility Carts used on campus roadways must comply with the rules of the general population of vehicles. Operators of these vehicles must obey all traffic laws and requirements of the State.

Golf/Utility Cart drivers must:

  • Complete Golf Cart 2111480: Golf Cart, Utility Cart, and Similar Vehicle Training – RMS
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Have approval from the department head or supervisor
  • Be a PVAMU faculty, staff, or student employee
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Obey and follow all traffic laws and rules.
  • Always use extreme caution.
  • Keep hands on the steering wheel of the cart at all times when driving.
  • Always yield to pedestrians.
  • Never drive while distracted.
  • Do not allow anyone to stand on a moving cart.
  • Keep all body parts inside the vehicle at all times.
  • Always fully engage the parking brake and remove the key before leaving the vehicle.
