
Before drone use on campus, a flight authorization application must be submitted to receive approval for EVERY flight of a UAS device on or off campus by PVAMU employees, faculty, and students, as well as any outside party flying on our campus. The UAS flight application should be submitted at least 15 days before the date requested for the flight. The PVAMU Supervising Authority reviews flight applications and provides approval or requests additional information.
In addition to the application, submit the following documentation.
- Remote Pilot Certificate within the last 2 years for each pilot.
- Flight safety plan to include:

- Loss of control or connection to the unmanned aircraft, including loss of control link, loss of GPS, and loss of power.
- Actions on sighting of a piloted aircraft.
- Actions upon a crash of the unmanned aircraft.
- Provisions to avoid flying over pedestrians and vehicles.
- Past year reportable accident reports and any current flight accidents
- Google Maps schematic of takeoff and landing locations as well as the planned flight path(s).
*Outside Parties/Contractors must also submit to RMS:

- A certificate of insurance
- Drone Hold Harmless Agreement
Waiver to Fly Over People
- If the UAS will fly over people, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waiver is required before flight approval. You must file a waiver via https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/part_107_waivers/.
