Four students from the College of Business are embracing their entrepreneurial spirit and competing in the 5th annual Richards Barrentine Values and Ventures® Business Plan Competition hosted by Texas Christian University’s Neely School of Business. This year, students from a record 49 universities are headed to TCU April 10-11 to compete for more than $70,000 in total cash prizes. More than 50 business and civic leaders will serve as judges and mentors.

Under the advisement of Dr. Rick Baldwin, Associate Professor and Assistant Director of the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center, undergraduate team members include:

Alexander Richardson, Senior Management Major
Morgan Walker, Sophomore Management Major
Tammy Malone, Senior Management Major
Stephen Edwards, Junior Management Major

Each team invited to the Business Plan Competition will participate in the Full Pitch Presentations on Friday, April 10th which consists of 12 minutes presentations of their business plan to a panel of judges followed by 10 minutes to respond to questions from the panel. During the final eight minutes, judges will discuss and deliberate the merits of the plan.

Additionally, one member of each non-finalist team will be invited to participate in a 90-second elevator pitch on the second day of the competition.

TCU’s Richards Barrentine Values and Ventures® Business Plan Competition, founded by the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center and real estate entrepreneurs Nancy Tartaglino Richards and Lisa Barrentine, invites entrepreneurial-minded college students to compete for the best plan that incorporates values, ethics and/or service into a for-profit business.
