PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Nov. 2, 2022) – How did you “Set Yo’ Homecoming Out”? Tens of thousands of Prairie View A&M University Panthers “Set it Out; Set it Out; Set it Out” for days on end! On-campus celebrations commenced on Oct. 23, wrapping up on Oct. 29. Since this post is mainly about candid moments, we gathered the best photos and videos of the week to sum up #PVHC2K22!
There’s nothing like kicking off the week with Gospel Fest. Award-winning singer Brian Courtney Wilson headlined this event on Sunday in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium.
Kicks & Conversations was Monday’s highlight. The event put sneaker brand industry leaders in the same room as sneakerheads and influencers, where they talked about the future of the sneaker industry and how sneaker culture continues to impact communities around the world.

The same thing can be said about the first Super Hump Day in three years! We missed you.
The year 2022 is very special for PVAMU royalty. Miss PVAMU celebrates a 90-year legacy, with Mr. PVAMU celebrating 40 years. We commemorated the Homecoming Royal Court and Campus Kings and Queens on Wednesday night during Royal Coronation.

On Thursday morning, PVAMU took over 97.9 The Box for three hours with live in-studio interviews with reps from the Offices of Marketing and Communication, Enrollment Management, and Development, as well as Head Football Coach Bubba McDowell and Band Director Timmey Zachery. That evening, the takeover continued at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Cypress, Texas. 97.9’s Young Jas covered the PV Gear Pop-Up Shop with perfection.
Did you know President Ruth J. Simmons had her very own Homecoming Day? KPVU 91.3 FM featured a personalized playlist of President Simmons’ favorite songs and clips from her many speeches and interviews during her time on “the Hill.” There was also a rockin’ jazz concert Thursday night with Khari Cabral & Jiva; P.s. Khari Cabral is President Simmons’ son.

Oh, Friday. Where to begin? We’ll start with President Simmons, who was crowned the first *and only* Honorary Miss Prairie View A&M University.
Then, there was Alumna Antoinette R. Gant ’94, who made history as the first African American female active-duty engineer to be promoted to the rank of general officer. Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. Randy George, conducted the traditional military ceremony at Brigadier General Gant’s beloved alma mater, Prairie View A&M University.
Finally, singer Mariah the Scientist and rapper Young Nudy performed in front of a sold-out crowd at a student concert. It certainly was a day to remember on “The Hill.”

Early birds got all they needed and more at PVAMU’s annual Parade of Champions Saturday morning.
Then, there was the big game, where the Panthers defeated Bethune-Cookman, 58-48, to cap off an amazing Homecoming Week on “The Hill.”

We’d say PVAMU was definitely “Back in Stride” again.
