Demetrius RobinsonPRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Nov. 28, 2023) – Prairie View A&M University, known internationally for its exceptional faculty and respected researchers, has selected distinguished musician Demetrius Robinson as its new music and choral director.

Dr. Robinson is a highly regarded music educator, conductor and composer who has performed with the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Meridian Symphony and the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.

Dr. Robinson hopes to build on what he calls a rich legacy at PVAMU, saying, “My vision for the choral and music education area is to exemplify excellence in choral performance, music teacher education and research.”

Dr. Mark Phillips, director of the Department of Music, says he is pleased to welcome Dr. Robinson, adding, “Our choirs have enjoyed a long legacy of excellence, and Dr. Robinson’s expertise in choral pedagogy, conducting and music education will position us to enjoy even greater successes in the future.”

The Department of Music, part of the University’s Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences, will present The Fall Choral Concert featuring the University Concert Chorale and the PV Singers on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Dr. T. Edison Anderson Recital Hall.
