PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Oct. 15, 2025) – Homecoming at Prairie View A&M University is more than a celebration; it’s a cherished Panther tradition that unites alumni, students, faculty, and staff in a shared spirit of pride and purpose. This year, PVAMU is once again turning Panther pride into action through the Homecoming Giving Challenge, an annual fundraising competition that supports the colleges and schools across campus.
The Challenge invites alumni to give back to the colleges and schools that shaped their PVAMU journey. Each academic unit is encouraged to raise a minimum of $10,000, with the first to reach or exceed that mark earning the Homecoming Challenge Trophy, which will be presented on the field during the Homecoming Game.
New this year, PVAMU has added an additional trophy to celebrate the college or school with the highest number of alumni donors, emphasizing that participation matters just as much as dollars raised.
“This challenge isn’t just about raising funds, it’s about pride, unity, and showing up for the place that shaped us,” said Lorie Proctor ‘04, director of the PVAMU Annual Fund. “We want to see our alumni come together to support the next generation of leaders. Every gift and every donor counts.”
All funds raised through the Challenge go directly to the participating college or school designated by the donor, supporting scholarships, academic enrichment, research, and program innovation that enhance the PVAMU experience.
The competition runs throughout Homecoming Week and concludes at the kickoff of the Homecoming Game when both trophies, Most Funds Raised and Most Donors, will be awarded in front of the Panther Nation crowd.
“Homecoming on The Hill is a celebration of our love and affinity for our Dear Prairie View,” said Proctor. “We’re asking everyone, alumni and friends of PVAMU, to show that love through giving. Let’s make this the most spirited challenge yet.”
