PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (June 11, 2020) – Following a “record number” of entries from countries around the world, Prairie View A&M University’s Office for Marketing and Communications won two Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awards.

According to its website, the CASE awards acknowledge superior accomplishments that have a lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism while delivering exceptional results in the fields of advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing at colleges, universities, independent schools, and affiliated nonprofits.

“These awards demonstrate our members’ success in advancing their institutions through their remarkable and varied work across all advancement disciplines,” Sue Cunningham, CASE President and CEO, said in a statement.

PVAMU’s 2020 Circle of Excellence Awards include a silver award for Video | Video on a Shoestring and a bronze award for Digital Communications: Student Recruitment.

“Moving, powerful, and unapologetic about its feminist stance,” judges said about PVAMU’s video released to YouTube in November to promote the university’s Scholars Voices Series, When and Where I Enter at 35: A Symposium in Honor of Paula Giddings. “This is a powerful and valuable PSA (public service announcement) that goes beyond the utility of promoting one event. [It is] a beautiful and strong community message that should serve as a model for other efforts or events around the country.”

The judges also loved PVAMU’s student recruitment efforts on social media in the fall, which capitalized students in the Dallas area receiving their admission letters to “The Hill.”

“Great job building momentum for your school and sharing it publicly,” they said.

This year, CASE received 2,752 entries from 28 countries, which was up from 20 countries the year before. Entries came from 587 institutions for consideration in 100 categories that were judged by 416 volunteers. They selected more than 400 entries for recognition based on several factors, including overall quality, innovation, use of resources, and impact.

Since being introduced in 1994, the Circle of Excellence Awards have showcased thousands of innovative and creative ideas and solutions that help CASE members better serve the educational institutions whose vital missions they are working to advance.
