PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Jan. 23, 2025) – After a delayed start due to this week’s historic winter storm, Prairie View A&M University’s Spring 2025 semester has officially begun. All campuses opened at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, following a temporary closure prompted by icy road conditions.
Spring 2025 Registration Continues
Students still have time to finalize their schedules, as late registration for Spring 2025 remains open through Tuesday, January 28. Those who have not yet registered are encouraged to schedule a meeting with their CARE team academic advisor through the Panther Navigate app.
Return to In-Person Instruction
Courses designated as face-to-face will resume in-person instruction as scheduled. Students and faculty should check the Spring 2025 course schedule to confirm the time and location of their class sections. Clinical students should consult their respective colleges for specific guidance.
It is important to note that students must attend class during the attendance reporting period, which runs from January 22 to January 28. Failure to attend could result in the removal of courses from their schedule and adjustments to financial aid. Students who miss class during this period should contact their instructor to address their absence and ensure accurate attendance records.
On-Campus Updates
Building Conditions
In the wake of the extreme weather, some campus buildings may experience cooler indoor temperatures, ranging between 50 and 60 degrees. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to dress warmly and wear layers for added comfort while indoors.
W.R. Banks Building
Individuals assigned to the W.R. Banks Building are advised to work remotely on Thursday and Friday. Classes scheduled in this location will temporarily transition to virtual sessions until in-person instruction resumes on Monday, January 27. Repairs to restore heating in the building are underway, and updates will be provided as progress is made.
Dining and Recreation
Campus Dining Services and Shuttle Services have resumed normal hours of operation. The Student Recreation Center also reopened at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 23.
Stay Informed
Students, faculty, and staff are reminded to regularly check their university email and the academic calendar for important updates, deadlines, and schedule adjustments. Staying informed is essential for a smooth transition into the new semester.
