PVAMU Softball 2025

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (May 6, 2025) – Prairie View A&M University stood out in this year’s Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) softball postseason awards, with the Lady Panthers and coaching staff earning top recognition following a stellar season.

The 2025 SWAC Pitcher of the Year honor was awarded to PVAMU’s Cailin Massey, who delivered a dominant performance in the circle throughout conference play. Massey posted a 2.49 ERA and led the SWAC with nine wins, helping power the Lady Panthers to the top of the league standings.

Joining Massey among the conference’s top honorees was Janaiya Thomas, named Newcomer of the Year. A key addition to the roster this season, Thomas made an immediate impact with a team-best .368 batting average, 39 hits, and 40 RBIs.

At the helm of the program, Head Coach Vernon Bland was recognized as Coach of the Year after leading Prairie View A&M to the SWAC Western Division title. Under his leadership, the team finished with a 21-3 conference record—the best in the league.

Three additional PVAMU athletes earned spots on the All-SWAC First Team:

  • Reagan Green, First Team First Base
  • Kearstin Tinsley, First Team Second Base
  • Janaiya Thomas, First Team Outfield
  • Cailin Massey, First Team Pitcher

The SWAC also recognized standout players from other institutions, including Grambling State’s Kamryn Broussard (Player of the Year) and Jackson State’s Jace Jackson (Hitter of the Year), among others.

Prairie View A&M’s dominant showing in both individual and team categories reflects the program’s continued growth and excellence on the diamond.
