PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Feb. 14, 2025) – The Prairie View A&M University community is mourning the loss of Ashley Perez, a junior biology major, who passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Ashley, a Richmond, Texas native who grew up in Wallis, was known for her dedication to academics, passion for science, and commitment to helping others. She began taking dual credit courses in high school, continued her education at Wharton Community Junior College, and later transferred to PVAMU with the goal of becoming a dentist. Her focus and determination in the classroom reflected her deep desire to make a difference in healthcare.

Beyond academics, Ashley’s presence was felt through her kindness and service. She worked part-time while pursuing her degree and volunteered at a local nursing home, bringing comfort and companionship to residents. She was also deeply rooted in her faith, actively participating in Life Teen and embracing opportunities for reflection and spiritual growth.

Ashley’s energy, warmth, and drive left an impression on those who knew her. Whether in class, at work, or among friends, she inspired others with her determination and generous spirit.

The Prairie View A&M University community extends its heartfelt condolences to Ashley’s family, friends, and loved ones. Her legacy will remain a part of PVAMU, and her impact will not be forgotten.
