PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (May 1, 2025) – As Mental Health Awareness Month begins, Prairie View A&M University is highlighting important research that tackles some of the most pressing issues in psychological well-being and education.
Dr. Anne Lippert, assistant professor of psychology in the Marvin D. and June Samuel Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences, has received over $90,000 in funding from the National Institutes of Health to advance her innovative work. Her research investigates how people interpret and act on knowledge, particularly in situations influenced by stereotypes and biasālike the damaging impact of victim shaming in sexual assault cases.
Through her work, Dr. Lippert is creating and testing tools that merge technology and psychology to support mental health and learning. Using virtual reality, intelligent tutoring systems, and interactive learning agents, her research explores how immersive experiences can shift perspectives and improve outcomes for a wide range of people.
Her interdisciplinary approach combines machine learning, text analysis, and statistical modeling to better understand and address the psychological challenges that shape how people learn, relate to others, and heal. The goal: to develop interventions that not only contribute to academic research but also inform policies and programs that foster healthier communities while addressing persistent gaps in education and mental well-being.
This latest NIH award reinforces the growing recognition of Dr. Lippertās work and highlights Prairie View A&M Universityās expanding role in mental health research that makes a real-world impact.
