PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (March 26, 2020) – This March, Prairie View A&M University was formally acknowledged for doing what its students have trusted it to do for more than 140 years, helping students, alumni, and donors learn, grow, and contribute to the world. At the District IV Annual Conference on March 2, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) honored PVAMUā€™s Office of Development with four gold CASE awards.

CASE – a non-profit association focused on educational advancement, including alumni relations, communications, and development – seeks to help its members foster healthy relationships with their wider communities to promote education and contribute to a better society. The annual competition engages a diverse selection of universities to submit their student and donor engagement efforts to showcase how they build and maintain community and encourage educational development for their institutions. This year, PVAMUā€™s four gold awards, which brings visibility to the university in the academic world, were selected from more than 500 submissions and marks the most awards Prairie View has ever won.

PVAMUā€™s awards include the following categories:

ā€œThe CASE awards showcase externally what is most important to us at Prairie View, our students,ā€ said Carme Williams, Vice President of Development at PVAMU. ā€œWe appreciate the outside recognition, but ultimately, our excitement is in our ability to tell our students, our alumni, and our donors – current and potential – who we are and what we do. And what we do at Prairie View A&M University is preparing students for a changing world so that they are equipped to be part of the change.ā€

These awards shine a light on the work the university has been doing to invite support for the continued success of PVAMU.Ā  In the past year, the Development team created the PVAMU Giving Circle to recognize annual donors. These donors have given more than $100,000 to the university, and others have included PVAMU in their estate plans. The Annual Report: Rising Strong, also led to an increase in calls and inquiries about giving opportunities, a $100,000 gift, as well as more than $10,000 in smaller donations.

More than the accolades, making a difference for PVAMU is the most important thing; the CASE awards showcase the success the university has had in doing that. Pearlie Wright, a donor, said, ā€œI am humbled and so proud of what the Development Office is doing. There are no words right now except…but God…you will hear from me again.”
