PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (May 9, 2022) – Prairie View A&M University’s Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field teams won the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship at PVAMU during a three-day event. Coach Christopher Clay was named Men’s Coach of the year, and Coach Angela Williams was named Women’s Coach of the year. Nathan Crawford-Wallis earned Most Outstanding Men’s Field Performer.
Story Notable Men’s Results:
- Jemal Wote finished first in both the 5,000 (15:11.70) and 10,000 (32:27.66)
- Worthington Moore had an outing coming in second in both the 5,000 (15:19.48) and 10,000 (32:58.33).
- Jarrel Reynolds placed third overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a 9:50.11 time.
- It was a clean sweep in the 400-meter dash with Damon Cobbs Jr. (46.57 seconds), Timothy Demeritt Jr. (46.87 seconds), and Christion Derrick (46.99 seconds) finishing first, second, and third, respectively.
- Nathan Crawford-Wallis finished first in the triple jump (15.62m), second place in the long jump (7.44m), and third in the high jump (2.06m).
- Ladorian Havard had a second-place finish in the men’s pole vault with a jump of 4.30 meters.
Story Notable Women’s Results:
- The 4×100 meter relay team of Morganne Mukes, Asjah Harris, Darnisha Lykes, and Kaizha Roberts finish first overall with a time of 45.43 seconds.
- Naomi Davis finished second overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:55.11.
- Maci Guy took second in the pole vault jumping a height of 3.21 meters. Jacari Tate was close to finishing third with a jump of 2.71 meters.
- Dinah Murphy took the crown in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:44.63 while finishing third overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.71.
- In the field, Kaizha Roberts leaped out to 5.96 meters in the long jump for a second-place finish and also finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.58 meters.
- Morganne Mukes took the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash to finish with a time of 11.81 seconds.
- In the 200-meter dash, Asjah Harris (23.98 seconds) and Morganne Mukes (24.08 seconds) placed first and second, respectively.
