PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Aug. 18, 2025) – The countdown is on for one of Houston’s most anticipated traditions, the 2025 Labor Day Classic between Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University. The game is set for Saturday, Aug. 30, at Shell Energy Stadium, with Texas Southern serving as this year’s host.
This year’s matchup is extra special, marking the 40th anniversary of the Classic. The first game was played in the Astrodome in 1985. Today, it has grown into one of the premier HBCU sports matchups in the nation.

The main event! TSU will host PVAMU in a fierce football showdown, with fan tailgates, spirited activations, and a halftime performance between TSU’s Ocean of Soul and PVAMU’s Marching Storm bands that’s often as competitive as the game itself.
