PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Nov. 20, 2023) – This year’s football season-ender on Blackshear Field was one for the books! The Prairie View A&M Panthers scored their ticket to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Football Championship after defeating the Alabama State Hornets, 21-14, in a game that kept fans on edge and proved PVAMU players have what it takes to be champions!
The mood inside Panther Stadium (and on campus leading up to the game) was intense as the home team came into this weekend’s matchup knowing the title was on the line. This season, a series of disappointing setbacks cast doubt the team would secure a win. The Panthers improved to 6-5 on the year and 6-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Hornets fell to 6-4 and 5-3.
After securing the Western Division Championship title, PVAMU prepares for Dec. 2, where they face Eastern Division Champion Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Florida, for the 2023 SWAC Football Championship.
