The Office for the Dean of Students at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) regrets to inform the campus community of the death of Miss Donyeahviyah K. Lewis, a junior psychology major at PVAMU. Miss Lewis passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021. Family and friends describe her as a shining light to all those with which she came into contact.

A native Texan, Donyeahviyah was a 2018 graduate of James E. Taylor High School in Katy, Texas, where she was a Color Guard Dance Team leader. After high school, Donyeahviyah continued her educational journey at PVAMU. While attending PVAMU, she was a member of the Pantherettes Dance Team. This past spring, Donyeahviyah successfully completed the semester on the Dean’s List.

The Celebration of Life Service for Miss Donyeahviyah K. Lewis will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Damascus Baptist Church at 3122 Center St., Houston, Texas 77007.  The service is at 11 a.m., with visitation before the service from 9 – 10:45 a.m.

Student Counseling Services (SCS) is prepared to support those in the campus community looking for assistance. Counselors are located on the 2nd floor of Hobart Taylor, suite 2A 204, and the Women’s Center, Room 101-A, located in May Hall.
