PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (September 10, 2021) – The Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) community is remembering 20-year-old Carleon McPhail, a junior psychology major from Houston. Carleon passed away on Wednesday, September 8.

A 2019 graduate of Langham Creek High School, Carleon was a member of the Langham Creek Varsity Basketball Team for four years; he served as captain during his senior year. He was also a member of the Langham Creek Varsity Football Team and Fellow Christian Athletes.

After high school, Carleon continued his educational journey at PVAMU. A Dean’s List scholar, he was a member of Panther Advisor Leaders (PALS), M.A.L.E., B.L.A.C.K., and Campus Activities Board (CAB). In addition to these activities, Carleon was an entrepreneur. He was a barber and owned a photography business.Ā At the time of his passing, Carleon was enrolled in 15 hours for the 2021 fall semester.

Student Counseling Services (SCS) is prepared to support those in the PVAMU campus community mourning Carleon’s death. Counselors are located on the 2nd floor of the Hobart Taylor Building, Suite 2A 204, and the Women’s Center, Room 101-A, located in May Hall.
