PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Feb. 11, 2026) – Prairie View A&M University President Tomikia P. LeGrande, Ed.D., has announced the appointment of Trazanna Moreno as the University’s Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications, effective March 1, 2026.
“This newly created, cabinet-level position reflects our commitment to elevating how Prairie View A&M University tells its story, engages its audiences, and advances its mission through strategic, integrated, and forward-looking communications,” President LeGrande said. “In this role, Ms. Moreno will provide executive leadership and oversight for the University’s existing Marketing and Communications Department and will be responsible for shaping and executing the institution’s marketing and brand strategy, communications, media engagement, and institutional storytelling in support of the University’s goals.”
Moreno joins PVAMU after serving seven years as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Technology at the Houston Zoo, where she led integrated marketing, brand positioning, communications, public affairs, and technology strategy supporting revenue growth, operations, fundraising, and mission awareness. In that role, she empowered a high-performing, multidisciplinary team while delivering measurable results across multiple business and mission areas.
She previously served as Chief Marketing Officer for the Houston Symphony, where she directed marketing, communications, and sales for the organization and drove ticket revenue through a modernized digital strategy and enhanced customer experience. She also held senior executive leadership roles with the YMCA of Greater Houston, leading integrated campaigns across a large nonprofit enterprise and helping accelerate digital revenue and membership growth.
Earlier in her career, Moreno served as Associate Superintendent for Community Relations at Klein Independent School District, where she led district-wide communications, issues management, and community engagement. She has also taught graduate-level coursework at the University of Houston–Downtown and undergraduate courses at the University of Phoenix. She began her professional career as a television news anchor and reporter, most recently appearing on KPRC-TV in Houston.
Moreno holds a master’s degree in Professional Writing and Technical Communication from the University of Houston–Downtown and dual bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and English Textual Studies from Syracuse University. She is Accredited in Public Relations and is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
For the current time, the department of University Marketing and Communications will continue to be housed within the Division of Strategy and Transformation, reporting to Dr. Michael McFrazier, Senior Vice President for Strategy and Transformation. This structure ensures close alignment between institutional strategy, transformation initiatives, and the University’s marketing and communications functions.
“A multidisciplinary executive known for aligning storytelling, digital strategy, and stakeholder engagement to deliver measurable results,” President LeGrande said. “I am confident that Ms. Moreno’s leadership will significantly strengthen Prairie View A&M University’s voice, visibility, and engagement across key audiences during this important period of growth and transformation.”
President LeGrande also expressed appreciation to the search committee for its dedication throughout the search process and invited the campus community to welcome Moreno to “The Hill” and offer support as she begins her work.
