Are you a first-generation college student? If so, what does that mean to you?
Yes, I am a first-generation college student. This achievement holds immense significance for me and my family. It represents not only a personal milestone but also a collective triumph for my entire family. Being the first in my family to attend and graduate from college is a testament to our resilience, determination, and the sacrifices made by my parents to provide me with opportunities they never had.
Why did you choose to attend PVAMU?
I chose to attend PVAMU because I was honored to receive a prestigious scholarship sponsored by the Government of my country through the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons. This scholarship not only provided me with the financial means to pursue higher education but also represented a significant vote of confidence in my potential and aspirations.
Which organization(s) were you a part of at PVAMU?
- Hispanic Business Student Association, where I first served as Vice President in 2021 and president from 2022-2024
- Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society
- National Society of Leadership and Success

- Association for Information Systems
How did being a part of these organizations make your PVAMU experience better?
Participating in these organizations has been transformative, honing my leadership skills and providing invaluable volunteering opportunities to serve the community. They have also been crucial in fostering connections with students across diverse disciplines.
What was your greatest achievement while attending PVAMU?
Out of all the conferences and pitch competitions I attended, I would like to highlight two:
- As the president of PVAMUās Hispanic Business Student Association, I and other group members represented PVAMU at the 2023 United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) Conference in in Chicago.
- I participated in the 2023 MIT Energy & Climate Hackathon in Boston, a trip sponsored by TEX-E (Texas Entrepreneurship Exchange for Energy) because I am a fellow. This is one of my top accomplishments because I have always dreamed of visiting MIT, and not only was I able to visit it, but I also participated in a Hack.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I will start my Master of Science in Computer Information Systems. I aspire to hold a senior position in data analytics or cybersecurity within a reputable organization.Ā
What did you love the most about PVAMU?
What I love most about PVAMU is the abundance of academic support resources available to me and the ease with which I can build a strong network with my peers, professors, and staff.
How do you feel PVAMU helped you to achieve your goals?
PVAMU has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals by providing access to invaluable resources. Through numerous networking opportunities and leadership programs, I have been able to connect with influential professionals and mentors who have guided me on my career path. These experiences have not only enhanced my skills but also boosted my confidence, preparing me to excel in the workforce.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned during your college journey overseas?
I have developed a greater appreciation for the education I received in my home country. That foundational education provided me with the essential knowledge and skills to thrive abroad. It has built a solid academic base and instilled the confidence needed to face new challenges in an international environment. This journey has enhanced my gratitude for the quality and rigor of my early education, and I take pride in how well it has prepared me for success on a global scale.
Do you have any advice for others coming behind?
My advice to any college student is to actively build your network, confidently ask questions, and leverage all available resources to shape your career.
