PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – For Rejoice Adekoya, graduating from Prairie View A&M University’s College of Nursing represents more than academic achievement—it is the culmination of a journey defined by excellence, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to service.
Entering PVAMU as part of the Honors Program, now the Honors College, Rejoice quickly distinguished herself as the embodiment of an Honors student. Throughout her time at the College of Nursing, she has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, servant leadership, and a deep commitment to uplifting others.
As class president, Rejoice has served as a leader not only for her cohort but for nursing students across the program. Her impact extends beyond leadership roles—through her work in the College of Nursing Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Program, she supported students academically while also developing a Canvas resource course that will continue to benefit future students long after her graduation.
Rejoice’s contributions extend into scholarship and national recognition. She is currently co-authoring a scholarly article with Dean Allyssa Harris and has been recognized as a recipient of the AT&T Dream in Black 2023 Rising Future Makers Award, honoring influential student leaders at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She has also presented at national conferences, including the 2025 ABRCMS Conference in San Antonio, Texas, further establishing herself as an emerging scholar.
Faculty and leadership across the University consistently recognize Rejoice’s exceptional character and impact. Honors College Dean Quincy Moore reflected: “Rejoice is among the most exceptional students I have encountered. She exemplifies servant leadership, discipline, punctuality, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Her leadership is grounded in service, empathy, and accountability, and she has the potential to impact countless lives throughout her career.”
Honors College Assistant Dean Chelsee Young added, “You have been such an outstanding student and an even more remarkable person. Your character, your spirit, your warmth—you have brought so much joy and peace to every space you’ve entered. You have represented the Honors College and the College of Nursing to the highest standard, and I am so proud of you.”
Mrs. Ingram of the Honors College shared, “Rejoice has been such a remarkable student. In addition to always being a top academic leader, she is kind, helpful, and always ready to assist both staff and students. She has been instrumental in helping new nursing students adjust and has been someone we could count on in so many ways.”
College of Nursing Dean Allyssa Harris also highlighted Rejoice’s impact and future service: “Rejoice represents the very best of Prairie View—her leadership, excellence, and commitment to service have brought tremendous pride to the College of Nursing. As she prepares to enter the military as an officer, her decision to serve during this time in our world speaks volumes about her character, courage, and calling. She will undoubtedly continue to lead and make a meaningful impact.”
In a powerful next step, Rejoice will be commissioned as a military officer in the United States Army prior to graduation on Friday, May 8, 2026—a moment that reflects both her dedication to service and her readiness to lead on a broader stage.
Rejoice’s journey reflects not only achievement, but intentional impact. From academic excellence to leadership, research, mentorship, and service, she has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose. As she transitions into this next chapter, Rejoice Adekoya leaves a lasting legacy at PVAMU—one defined by excellence, service, and leadership—and a future that is certain to inspire and impact many.
