President’s Lecture Series Culmination
Noted historian, Dr. George C. Wright, President of Prairie View A&M University established the Annual Essay/Oratorical Contest with generous support from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The essay finalists will be featured presenters at the culminating program of the President’s Lecture Series. First, second and third place winners will be named.
The finalists are as follows:

- Demario Lowe, Management Information System
- Kehinde Ogunseye, Biology
- Nia Shy, English
- Lorenzo Tolbert, Sociology
The Essay/Oratorical Contest is designed to support the building of greater understanding and appreciation of the achievements and the challenges of African American life. Additionally, students’ extensive reading, careful writing, and public presentation associated with participating in the essay/oratorical contest supports the University’s objective of continually building greater intellectual capital among its students.
