HOUSTON – Houston’s Ensemble Theatre was filled on Tuesday night with Prairie View A&M University students, faculty, staff and community supporters who came to witness a reading by the world-famous poet, writer, activist, educator and American icon Nikki Giovanni. It was the first in-person event featuring Giovanni, PVAMU’s inaugural writer-in-residence, under the university’s Toni Morrison Writing Program.
Representatives from the City of Houston, who also attended the event, proclaimed April 12, 2022, Nikki Giovanni Day.
