Off, off, and away: Prairie View A&M University Hosts Freshman Send-off Celebrations

Prairie View A&M University held the first of three 2018 freshman send-off celebrations on Saturday, August 4, at The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum in Houston, Texas.

Called Destination Pantherland, these festive send-off receptions welcome incoming freshman and parents to The Hill with special guests from career services, athletics, alumni affairs, including Panther cheerleaders and mascot, to share the many ways PVAMU is unique and field various questions.

ā€œWe know that the future is very bright at Prairie View and it is a delight to share those infinite possibilities with the Class of 2022 before many of them even start class,ā€ said Carme Williams, vice president of development. ā€œDestination Pantherland is a celebration of our studentsā€™ achievements past, present, and future.ā€

At the event, attended by approximately 100 guests, the university also launched its new Panther Parent Program which links parents and guardians with important resources, events, and information about the university to help advance the academic success of our students.

ā€œAs parents and guardians, we know our children better than anyone and are positioned to take an active role in preparing our kids for something bigger and better,ā€ said Panther Parent Program Ambassadors Renee and Mark Falls ā€™82 who were also in attendance at the inaugural event. ā€œWe are honored to help all students get ready for this world through the Panther Parent Program.ā€
