PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Dec. 7, 2022) – Careers in Action is a program hosted by Prairie View A&M University’s Center for Careers and Professional Development (Career Services). This initiative aims to connect students to opportunities that allow them to meet corporate leaders while experiencing the culture of the organization through site visits. During the fall semester, Career Services coordinated seven corporate site visits to New York (twice), North Carolina, Texas, Ohio and California. Over 70 students participated.

Honeywell hosted the most recent trip at its global headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. Four students, who attended the Fall 2022 Career Fair at PVAMU, were chosen from a pool of candidates to go on the all-expenses-paid trip to the HBCU Leadership Summit. The students included Michelle Penelope Castillo, a sophomore finance major; Lewis Parker, a junior mechanical engineering major; Jordan Rohilliard, a junior computer science major; and Javari Simmons, a junior marketing major.

Simmons accepted a full-time sales internship with Honeywell in Charlotte for the summer of 2023. Parker was also offered an internship at Honeywell.

“It is imperative that every student at PVAMU partner with Career Services to learn more about themselves, connect to opportunities, advance their professional characteristics, and update their profile in Handshake. More important, students must get to know who they are or risk being defined by the world,” said Carolyn Davis, Ed.D., director of Career Services.
