PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (August 20, 2021) – With the first move-in day now a near distant memory, new and returning students at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) are looking forward to Week of Welcome. The week of events from August 22-August 28 will help students familiarize themselves with PVAMU’s campus culture and extensive resources.

Students

“After a challenging year, the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) looks forward to the energy and excitement our new and returning students will bring to the campus,” said OSE Program Coordinator Juan Sandoval. “We cannot wait to see Panthers enjoying the various activities presented, and we are excited to engage with everyone face-to-face. Students – grab your friends, roommates, or the person you just met, and help us SET THE TONE!”

To keep the university safe, all participants must fill out the COVID-19 Symptom Checker at pvpawlink.pvamu.edu. Event organizers also encourage mask wearing, as well as social distancing.

Sunday, Aug. 22

  • Chucks and Denims Worship Experience (at the Water Fountain from 10-11 a.m.): The Johnson-Phillip All Faiths Chapel and Dean Charles Lewter welcome all incoming and returning students to join in worship for a casual, brief outdoor program. • “Set the Tone” Welcome Back Pep Rally (in the Baby Dome from 7-9 p.m.): This event, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA) and CAB, allows students to learn more about PVAMU traditions while building connections with other students.

Monday, Aug. 23-Friday, Aug. 27

  • First Week of School Pictures (in the MSC Foyer from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.): Students, wearing their first day of school outfits, can bring their own photographers and show off their newfound university pride!
