PRAIRIE VIEW
, Texas (August 30, 2021) – There are just days to go until the pigskin (officially) flies through the air for the first time of the fall 2021 season. After a short season last year, Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, September 4, at Houston’s BBVA Stadium for their season opener against Texas Southern University (TSU) in the 36th Annual Labor Day Classic.

“I feel really good about going into this week’s game,” said Head Football CoachĀ Eric Dooley. “It’s about the mindset; it’s never been about the talent, and we have the talent here. I do like where we are. Dealing with student-athletes, it’s always a grind, but I believe that we are ready.”

The busy week begins with the annual Labor Day Classic Press Conference at noon on Monday. Then, with a little bit of normalcy, the Touchdown Club holds its annual Labor Day luncheon on Wednesday. Prairie View A&M will travel down US-290 East for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

In the Panthers’ home opener against the TSU Tigers during the spring 2021 season, the team came away with a 20-19 nail biter. PVAMU has come away with a win in the last six meetings against TSU, three of which were during the “Dooley Era.”

This year, Prairie View A&M returns with most of its offense and nearly most of the defense from last season just four months ago.
