PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Feb. 5, 2025) – A popular Prairie View A&M University tradition continues as the historic John B. Coleman Library releases its highly anticipated African American History Month reading list.
The library, which serves as a hub for academic resources and research, as well as a cultural center that celebrates the rich history and achievements of the African American community, invites readers to explore cultural history and creativity with the unveiling of the official selection for 2025. This year’s reading list is even more bold and diverse, showcasing the heart and soul of authors dedicated to sharing and owning the narrative of Black voices.
The dedicated library staff invites readers to take a moment and immerse themselves in a curated selection of books that highlight the resilience, achievements, technological advancements, and artistic contributions of African Americans, both past and present. The beauty of this selection is in the prolific relevance of the books. These works, handpicked by the University’s librarians, academics, and students, are powerful testaments to the limitless impact of emerging leaders in civil rights, politics, and science who are shaping our future, as well as the pioneers in literature, arts, and sports who have left an indelible mark on our history.

This understanding supports the goal of creating a more inclusive and informed campus community.
