Prairie View A&M architecture students competed in the Future Architects Design Competition this past August. Hosted by Texas Central, the contest allowed students to present proposals for the Texas Bullet Train Passenger Station in front of a panel comprising of respected architects and members of the Texas Central team. PVAMU students presented proposals that received a prize and a honorable mention.

Several Texas schools competed, butĀ only 13 of the 45 plus proposals were selected. The Brazos Valley, Dallas andĀ HoustonĀ Texas Bullet TrainĀ Station locations were selected and the proposals were judged on each location’s station architecture, urban design and sustainableĀ design. Each category winner walked away with a prize forĀ themselves and their institution.Ā

Ledell Thomas & Kaylah Wesley’s proposal won the ā€œSustainable Design Prizeā€ for The Brazos Valley station design. They were able to take home $2,000 for themselves and $5,000 for the school. The following Prairie View students earned honorable mentions for The Brazos Valley station design category: Isaac Watson, Roderick Henderson and Nadia Gooding.
