I, along with the entire Prairie View A&M University community, honor the life of Congressman Sylvester Turner. His passing leaves a profound void in our community and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Congressman Turner was much more than a politician. He was a tireless advocate for our community, and his commitment to uplifting often unheard voices was unwavering. He understood the power of education and the importance of each person’s personal story no matter their start. This humanity made him a strong partner with PVAMU. His support of our University was grounded in action— it was a testament to his belief in the potential of every student on “The Hill.”
Congressman Turner believed that education could change lives and open doors, and he worked diligently to ensure that every young person had access to the opportunities they deserve. His example showed us the importance and joy of serving others and the impact one individual can have on their community. In our grief, we find gratitude for his leadership, vision, and a life well lived.
Well done, Congressman Sylvester Turner. Your journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the lessons you imparted and the impact you made will continue to resonate forever.
