Freshman/Sophomore Advisor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science

LT McMullen enlisted in the Navy on 10 July 2005 and attend basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. He attended both Navy “A” and “C” schools while in Great Lakes entering the fleet as an Electricians Mate.

His enlisted sea tours include three Southern Pacific deployments onboard USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG-60) in Everett, WA and USS MCCLUSKY (FFG-41) in San Diego, CA between 2006-2011 achieving the rank of First Class Petty Officer (EM1). While serving on shore duty he earned and associate’s degree in General Studies from Vincennes University and a B.S. in Workforce Development and Training from Southern Illinois University.

He also served at Naval Cargo Handling Battalion One in Williamsburg, VA responsible for cargo missions on various Military Sealift Commands, where he deployed to Alaska, the Philippines, and Antarctica as a Hatch Captain during Operation Deep Freeze.

In 2016, EM1 McMullen was selected for and attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated in October 2016 as Ensign and reported to Basic Division Officer Course in Norfolk, VA.

His first division officer tour was onboard the USS BATAAN (LHD-5) as the Combat Electrical division officer completing a 2017 sea deployment. LT McMullen served his second division officer tour on USS LAKE ERIE (CG-70) as the Damage Control Assistant, where he led numerous fire and flooding responses.

Personal military awards include two Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, amongst other awards.

LT McMullen is married to Lauren McMullen with whom he has four children; Cydney, Damion; Laniyah, and Christopher Jr.
