Commanding Officer and Professor Of Naval Science

Originally from Long Island, New York, CAPT Bowman graduated the State University of New York at
Albany in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.  He was commissioned as a Naval Flight
Officer in 1999 at Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, FL. CAPT Bowman earned his Masters of Arts in
National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, RI and additionally
achieved his qualification as a Naval Operational Planner from the Maritime Advanced Warfighting
School in 2010.  He has completed both, Phase I and II of Joint Military Professional Education and
designated a Joint Qualified Officer.

CAPT Bowman completed his first operational aviation tour with VP-10 in Brunswick, ME.(2001-04),
followed by an instructor tour at VP-30 in Jacksonville, FL (2004-07).  For his disassociate sea tour, he
served as the Strike and Targeting Officer for Commander US SEVENTHFLEET onboard the USS
BLUERIDGE homeported in Yokosuka, JP (2007-09).  CAPT Bowman returned to flying, and completed
his Department Head tour with VP-47 (2011-13) serving as Safety NATOPS, Admin, Training and

Operations Officer. He returned to NAS Jacksonville to serve in VP-30 as the Fleet Replacement Squadron Training Officer (2013-16).  CAPT
Bowman was selected for Operational Command and served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of VP-9 in Kaneohe Bay,
HI (2016-18).  During his Command tour, he helped VP-9 successfully complete their last P-3C deployment and oversaw the squadron
transition to the P-8A, which included a homeport change to Whidbey Island, WA.

After his Command tour, CAPT Bowman served as the Chief of the USINDOPACOM Joint Reconnaissance Center, Camp Smith, HI (2018-21)
and COMUSNAVCENT and FIFTHFLEET Directorof Plans and Policy, Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS) for N5, in Manama Bahrain (2021-23).

In addition to various campaign, service, and unit awards, CAPT Bowman’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service
Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards).
