Since 1995, Verrick Walker (’94) has worked as an architectural teacher, researcher, and practitioner. His work within the US Department of Defense, Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering Plans and Services Division at Fort Myer in Washington, D,C, convinced him that a PhD would position him for success in designing complex research facilities. He joined the Strategic Consulting group at Page in 2003 as an architectural programmer and planner, and in 2006, began specializing in laboratory programming and planning within the Science and Technology group. He is now a partner and Laboratory Planning Lead in the Houston office. He has worked on a wide range of project types in the US and abroad totaling more than 14.5 million gross square feet and $4.3 billion in construction costs. He is an expert in animal, biomedical, cleanroom, control/operations, and petrochemical facilities, with specific experience in the Middle East. His research and teaching have focused on how visual characteristics of built and natural environments influence human perception and behavior, including worker productivity, health outcomes, housing market dynamics, and evidence-based design.
