The Alumni Pinning Ceremony is designed to serve as a bridge from student to alumni and recognizes graduates for the current semester. Vital information such as the importance of giving back to the university is also disseminated. The ceremony takes place the Thursday before every commencement. Highlights of the evening include remarks from distinguished alumni, a National Alumni Association Representative, and a Golden Class Representative. At the end, candidates receive their official alumni lapel pin and pin their classmates.

What it represents – The pin and the ceremony represents a deep connection to the university and the graduates life time commitment to using the tools and resources to serve their communities and the ever-changing world as a PROUD PRODUCTIVE PANTHER. It also symbolizes a sense of pride and security knowing that no matter where life may send you, you will always have a connection to the place where it all began; Prairie View A&M University.

The Pin is a 1″ diameter die struck custom antique brass lapel pin.  It is an exclusive item and cannot be ordered outside the program.  It is not distributed outside the ceremony, meaning, in order to receive the pin, you must attend the pinning services and take the oath.  The Alumni pin should be worn on the left at commencement and at alumni events.
