The Office of Alumni Relations looks forward to collaborating with our class during your Golden Anniversary Year. During the year, there are key opportunities to meet your classmates at university activities.  

During the class anniversary year, your class will be recognized and honored in the following manner:  

 

Class Acknowledgement and Recognition 

  •  A Special letter from the university president. 
  • The Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Development will co-host a meet and greet to bring the class together in concert with the class’ leadership: 
  • This will occur on a yet-to-be-determined day during the spring of the anniversary year.   
  • The Office of Alumni Relations will provide a lunch buffet in the Athletic Administration Panther Room. You must pre-register to attend. Registration information will be included on the Alumni Relations webpage. 
  • Throughout the anniversary year, class members will have opportunities to be spotlighted and/or interviewed for an Alumni Relations online feature at a later date.  
  • During the Homecoming of the anniversary year, Alumni Relations will provide logistical assistance and limited escorting services for the following activities: 
  • Friday Campus Tour 
  • Identification of an on-campus lunch spot (lunch is at the expense of the class) 
  • Bus arrival, parking, and departure for the National Alumni Association Banquet 
  • Break room before the Parade 
  • Photograph with the President 
  • Homecoming Parade Attendance 
  • President’s Luncheon 
  • Stadium seating (Contact Athletics directly for ticket purchases) 
  • Halftime check presentation (Development) 
  • During the anniversary year’s Homecoming Game, the attending class will be formally recognized during the football game.   
  • The Office of Alumni Relations will reserve the following additional special seating or recognition opportunities at events:  
  • Collaboration with the Class for an Alumni Relations football game day tailgate (game day chosen by Alumni Relations).   
  • Spotlight on Jumbotron on the day of their tailgate at a quarter break (if group tickets have been purchased) or with a photograph from a previous event. 
  • Group seating at the Spring Pinning Ceremony 
  • Group seating at Commencement (TBD)

What determines the Prairie View A&M University Golden Anniversary Class designation? 

The class is celebrating its 50th year since graduating from Prairie View A&M University. 

 

What is the Golden Anniversary Class Initiative? 

The Class Initiative allows class members to establish an endowment and fundraise towards their 50th anniversary gift, which will be presented to the university during the Homecoming celebration during the anniversary year. 

 

What department(s) are the liaison between the University and the Golden Anniversary Class? 

The Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Development have re-imagined the structure, timeline, and experience of anniversary class celebrations for the betterment of the University, alumni, and alumni donors. We have developed a policy and procedure for recognizing your class and future Golden Anniversary Classes. 

 

 Campus Logistics  

The Office of Alumni Relations will assist with logistical communication and direction for on-campus events sponsored, hosted, and activated by the Class. Logistical assistance includes the following: 

  • Venue / Facilities 
  • Identification of venues available for event activation 
  • Break room before the Homecoming Parade 
  • University photographer for the official class photo with the President 
  • Homecoming Parade Seating 
  • Special Events 
  • President’s Luncheon 
  • Game Day Stadium Seating (Athletics) 
  • Contact information for venues requiring direct payment from Class 
  • Transportation and Parking 
  • Limited Golf Cart Trans To / From areas during Homecoming-specific events for mobility-challenged class members. For groups of over 15 mobility-challenged class members, we will work with Transportation to find an alternative solution. Class members will need to pre-register so that Alumni Relations can plan transportation and staffing of events.* 
  • Provide ADA information  
  • Food / Beverage Service 
  • Break room before the Homecoming Parade – Alumni Relations will assume the cost. 
  • President’s Luncheon – The Office of the President provides the catering services and décor. 
  • Escorts/Greeters/Student Volunteers/Staffing* 
  • A limited number of staff and student volunteers will be provided on Homecoming Day. They are tasked with escorting as follows: 
  • Friday Campus Tour – Recruitment provides a tour guide per bus University employed staff (full-time and student worker staff) 
  • Identification of an on-campus lunch spot (lunch is at the expense of the class) 
  • Break room before the Parade 
  • Photograph with the President 
  • Homecoming Parade Attendance

  • Stadium seating (Contact Athletics directly for ticket purchases)

  • Public Safety/Risk Management*

  • President’s Luncheon – Alumni Relations will assume the cost for the venue and set-up.

Class Communication 

  • The Class Ambassador will establish a Gmail account for direct communication with the Class using the following format: pvamuclassof****@gmail.com. The Class Ambassador will manage the email communication according to the university-provided toolkit*. 
  • The Office of Alumni Relations will establish a Facebook platform for communicating with the Class via social media. The Class will provide 2-3 administrators for the pages, which the Office of Alumni Relations will own. 
  • The Office of Alumni Relations will distribute official information and news via its email platform to the Class and event management tool.  
  • The Office of Alumni Relations will provide a class toolkit*, which will include a class logo and templates for use  
  • The Class Toolkit may be used for communication-related to the class’s fundraising and reunion efforts. The Class must adhere to the department and university policy regarding the toolkit’s use. We must protect the PVAMU Brand. Everything we do reflects the PVAMU brand. Likewise, those auxiliary entities that reside under the University umbrella must also protect the Brand.

*Staffing is determined based on registration and number of guests. The Department will adhere to all University and System policies, including Risk Management, Volunteers, and Transportation use.
