Intro
PIER recruits emerging scholars who combine rigorous research with a commitment to student learning and community engagement. Fellows work within one of the four areas and contribute to PVAMU’s research momentum and academic mission.
What you’ll do
- Lead an independent, collaborative research agenda aligned to one area
- Publish, present, and pursue external funding with mentors
- Mentor students; contribute guest lectures or lab modules
- Participate in PIER forums and interdisciplinary exchanges
Eligibility and materials
- Doctorate (or equivalent) within ~3 years of start
- Cover letter and CV
- Two-page research statement
- One-page teaching/mentorship statement
- Three references

Research excellence and fit; potential for collaboration and mentorship; commitment to equity, ethics, and societal impact.
Professional development
Workshops on proposal writing, project management, mentoring, communication, and responsible research. Structured feedback and quarterly research forums.
