The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston has issued a Heat Advisory through 6:00 PM today, with heat index values up to 109°F expected in the Prairie View and Houston areas.

Safety Reminders:

  • Stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities.
  • Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
  • Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit sun exposure.
  • Monitor for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Call 911 for heat stroke or other medical emergencies.

All departments and student organizations should follow the Campus Extreme Heat Operational Quick Reference Guide for required heat-safety measures, work-rest cycles, and operational restrictions.
