The Security Officers will secure assigned areas by observing and reporting prowlers, fires, equipment failures and other irregularities. The primary duties consist of closing and locking of doors that have been left open; turning lights off and as necessary; reporting emergency conditions such as fires and water leaks; keeping unauthorized persons from entering prohibited areas; checking packages to determine if State property is being removed from the building or area; issuing University parking citations on campus; following all security procedures, operating security equipment; writing reports, communicating verbally and in writing to management, staff, faculty and students or other professionals concerning the facility; explaining policies or procedures to others; properly identifying visitors, students and staff upon entering facility and monitoring movement throughout the buildings.
