College of Agriculture and Human Sciences

The College of Agriculture and Human Sciences has had its roots firmly established at Prairie View A&M University since 1879 when the University’s academic curriculum was expanded to include agriculture and home economics.

The College of Agriculture and Human Sciences is unique in that it operates in the true land-grant tradition of teaching, research and service through its academic, extension and research components. The College offers a diverse curriculum to students through its Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Human Ecology and prepares them to respond effectively to complex social issues relating to the food, agricultural, human and natural resource sciences.

Admission Requirements

The Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Human Ecology is geared to prepare students for the career of their dreams. For animal lovers, there’s an animal science program where our professors and research scientists will help you explore the study of animal genetics.With access to more than 700 acres of farmland right on campus, students will graduate with the hands-on experience needed to succeed. Nutrition, food science and dietetics is also covered and students who want to become park rangers, veterinarians, food inspectors, dietitians, The Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Human Ecology is geared to prepare students for the career of their dreams.

ENGAGE WITH US

The Community and Economic Development Unit serves as a resource and assistance center for limited resource families and individuals in pursuit of increasing their standard of living through entrepreneurship, community program participation, home ownership, and government assistance programs.
