This fall, commencement exercises will be combined. There will be one ceremony during which degrees will be conferred upon all degree candidates. This realignment marks the return to the PVAMU tradition of a single ceremony that incorporates all colleges and the School of Architecture.

Commencement is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., December 16, 2017 . The decision to host a single ceremony addresses recurring concerns of students and their families. ā€œReviving the single ceremony tradition allows students to graduate with their peers. These students have built a camaraderie that started when they arrived together on ā€˜the Hillā€™ years ago. Splitting the ceremonies did not allow them to be together,ā€ said Carol Campbell, co-chair of the commencement committee.

Students will receive the same number of tickets as before but with one modification. Five of the tickets will grant candidateā€™s guests into the William J. ā€œBillyā€ Nicks Building and the remaining five will grant another five guests into the alternate viewing sites that will be clearly marked.

Graduation is a significant occasion that acknowledges the achievements of our students. With utmost respect for the importance of this event, the Office of the President is committed to making this celebratory time efficient, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone in attendance at all sites.
Suggestions for improving commencement are welcome as we continue to make the tradition of commencement even more honorable.

Additional electronic and hard copy announcements of the commencement day itinerary, as well as the commencement guide, will be forthcoming in November.
