Housing renewal for the 2026–2027 academic year opens on March 24, 2026, for current on-campus residents. Current residents receive priority access to housing before applications open to new students.
New housing applications open on April 15, 2026. Housing contracts will be issued to eligible new applicants beginning on April 23, 2026, subject to availability and community eligibility requirements.
Students must complete the housing application through the Resident Portal using the email address associated with their housing account. Once eligibility requirements are verified, a housing contract will be issued electronically for review and signature.

Yes. Students must be enrolled in Fall 2026 courses in order to receive a housing contract.

Some students may be required to submit a $650 pre-rental payment to confirm their housing contract. Students will receive notification through the housing portal if this payment is required.

If required, the pre-rental payment deadline is May 1, 2026, for current residents and June 1, 2026, for new applicants.

Beginning Fall 2026, Prairie View student housing will move to an all-inclusive rent model, which means utilities will be included in the semester housing installment and students will no longer receive separate utility bills during the academic year.

Housing communities are organized based on student classification. Please verify your classification via Panther Tracks by viewing your current academic standings.

University College (First Year Students – (0-29 credit hours)

University Village (First & Second Year Students – (30-59 credit hours)

University View (Juniors, Seniors – (60+ credit hours) and Graduate

University Square (Juniors, Seniors – (60+ credit hours) and Graduate

Students will be able to select or match with roommates once their housing contract is fully signed. At that time, students will gain access to the RoomSync roommate-matching platform.
Housing assignments are based on availability, so students are encouraged to complete their housing application and housing contract as early as possible to secure their preferred housing options.

Current residents can submit their housing renewal applications beginning March 24, 2026. New students may apply for housing beginning April 15, 2026.
After your student completes the housing application and their Fall 2026 enrollment is verified, a housing contract will be issued electronically through the Resident Portal for review and signature.
Students will receive the housing contract through the Resident Portal. Families are encouraged to review the housing contract together before it is finalized to ensure that all terms and expectations are clearly understood.

If required payments or housing contract steps are not completed by the deadline, the student’s housing contract may be canceled, and the housing space may be offered to another applicant.

Parents and families may receive housing updates if their contact information is included in the student’s housing or university records. These communications may include housing renewal announcements, parent information emails, and reminders about important housing deadlines.
