PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (January 13, 2020) – The Texas Observer listed “Thursday Night Lights,” a book about the passion, drama, and remarkable accomplishments of African American high school football players and coaches in segregated Texas, as one of its top 30 Texas novels published between January 2010 and December 2019. It was written by Michael Hurd, who directs the Texas Institute for the Preservation of History and Culture at Prairie View A&M University.
