Prairie View A&M University, School of Architecture, third year undergraduate students of Studio V participated in an RFP from Texas Central to design a passenger station for the future Texas Bullet Train project. The high-speed rail will serve over 50,000 “super-commuters” who travel from Houston to Dallas more than once a week, cutting their travel time to 90 minutes. With approximately 240 miles of elevated track, the project seeks to minimize the impact to the environment and wildlife of Texas. Student teams created conceptual station designs to meet environmental and sustainable goals through biomimicry, Living Building Challenge benchmarks, and sensitivity to the surrounding environmental context. Participating student teams will be competing among the best in Texas. Student teams include; Ana Kiso + Jasimyne Wilson; Nadia Gooding, Isaac Wastson + Roderick Henderson; and Kaylah Wesley + Ledell Thomas.
