Gary R. Newton, Director of the International Goat Research Center and Leader of the Animal System, was selected by the Office of National Programs to chair a USDA Agricultural Research Service review panel for the Food Animal Production National Program. The panel examined and scored research plans centered on production practices, including stress, in cattle, sheep, and poultry. Newton is the third CARC scientist including Ripendra Awal and Peter Ampim called on by the USDA-ARS Office of Scientific Quality Review to conduct rigorous reviews of ARS research plans for the agency. While reviews are time consuming, they also are a strong recognition of the expertise of our scientists and their valuable contributions to science.
